We have around 12 volunteers and 12 trees to plant. We will break into 4 groups of 3 volunteers, and each group will plant 3 trees.
The plan is to all meet at the PCA offices (2318 Main Street) at 9:30am that morning (4/27) for some coffee and donuts to mingle briefly and go over the plan of attack. There is also a Main Street Cleanup happening that day from 10-12pm (or later). This group of likeminded cleanup volunteers will also be at the PCA space at 9:30am to mingle and have refreshments. We encourage anyone who finishes tree planting early to join the cleanup if they wish.
We should begin planting around 10am and it should take 1-2 hours max. The event is rain or shine, so please dress accordingly. Hopefully there will not be any rain that day. In the event of a big rainstorm, we may be able to push off the planting to the next morning on the 28th.
Also, please bring a shovel to dig, and gloves if you have them.
A rake for the dirt can come in handy as well. Feel free to bring your own pickaxe and axe if we encounter roots.
Nobody is required to attend the 4/20 tree planting training workshop beforehand, but we encourage anyone interested in leading a team to do so! It is very informative.
